You have decided that you need to get away for a vacation. Maybe you are stressed from work or home life. It could be that you just need a change of scenery. No matter what the case may be for needing that getaway, a cruise is right up your alley. There is one main question you will have to ask yourself however. That is, where should I go? While there are almost innumerable cruises out there from which to choose you will want one that suits your particular tastes and needs.
If you go on the commercials you see on television you would probably figure that most people prefer to cruise in some tropical destination surrounded by aqua seas and white sandy beaches. This could not be farther from the truth. There are as many different cruise locations as there are people to enjoy them. From the warmth of the Caribbean to the cool of Alaska your choice of cruise locale will be totally up to you. Even if you choose somewhere even more exotic such as the Mediterranean, Africa, or Australia you will be surprised at the number of choices available.
There are a few things you will want to keep in mind when deciding on your chosen cruise locale. First you will need to decide what sort of weather you wish to enjoy. Do you want to walk out on deck and watch your breath as it comes out in the cool morning air? Maybe you would rather lie on deck and soak up some sun while the kids play in the pool. This will be totally up to you to decide. This brings up another point to remember. Your chosen destination will help to determine what time of year would be best for your cruise.
From Alaska To Zanzibar
Many people choose the Caribbean as their number one cruise destination. When you look at the wide variety of cultures and everything they have to offer it comes as no surprise. It doesn’t matter if you choose to visit the Eastern (Bahamas, Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico), Western (Grand Cayman, Jamaica, and Cozumel), or Southern (Aruba, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Dominica, and more) Caribbean you will find something for everyone.
In fact the diversity of the Caribbean cultures really speak to us, especially those of the Western Caribbean. You can literally see a difference in the cultures on a day to day basis. For those of you with kids this can be a great teaching opportunity. If experiencing culture is not top on your list you might consider a whole different venue. Take Alaska for example. You can take in famous Denali Park as well as other inland sights and then take a cruise on the Inside Passage.
No matter what destination you choose it is important that you get your timing right. Who really wants to go on a cruise in the Caribbean in the middle of hurricane season. Conversely, who wants to be frozen to the deck by going on an Alaskan cruise in the middle of their winter. All this must be taken into account when you get ready to choose your cruise destination.
While we may have our favorite locations, such as the Western Caribbean or the Mediterranean, we know that our tastes are our own. Only you will know what you ask yourself, where should I go?
