Attending the Winter Olympics on Cruise Ships

Visitors to the 2010 Winter Olympics will have a new accommodation option: cruise ships. Tourists and security personnel will be housed aboard ships from Holland America, Carnival and Norwegian docked at Port Metro Vancouver. Although cruise ships have been used previously in the 2004 Summer Games in Greece, Vancouver marks the first time this option has been available for the Winter Olympics. (more…)

Mahogany Bay, Isla Roatan, Honduras

Five years in the works, including two years of construction, the joint project by Carnival Corporation and local businessman Jerry Hynds has created a cruise ship port like no other. The $62 million dollar Mahogany Bay Cruise Center can accommodate berthing of two post-Panamax class ships simultaneously; allowing for upwards of 8,000 passengers per day. (more…)
