Hey there everyone!
We are Barry and Kimala McConnell, a couple who really love to enjoy the most out of life.
Barry: I love to ride my motorcycle. I earned my membership in the Iron Butt Association (a long distance motorcycle touring organization) by riding over 1,000 miles in under 24 hours! When I’m not flying along on my motorcycle, odds are you will find me in the air since I am a licensed pilot.
I have also been practicing martial arts for over 40 years now. I earned my black belt in four different arts and now teach Modern Arnis. This is a Filipino martial art that focuses on the use of sticks and knives.
I have lived in Tallahassee now for 30 years and work for the Dept. of Education designing data warehouses. Yeah, believe it or not I am a geek!
I am working toward my Ph.D. in Computer Information Systems from Nova University. I am also working hard, though so far unsuccessfully, to teach my African Gray parrot to sing the infamous Lumberjack Song.
As a Navy Brat I learned my love for travel at an early age.
Kimala: I fell in love with travel at a young age. We moved to Iran at the age of nine for three years and later traveled extensively visiting Israel, St. Petersburg and Moscow Russia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Bangkok Thailand, Helsinki, Lyons and Paris France, Brussels, and London…all before finishing high school!
Our wedding in 2005 introduced me to the world of cruising and I have been hooked ever since. We share our house with my lively and slightly nuts Rose-Breasted Cockatoo Roisin, Barry’s African Gray and four cats ranging from 8 months to 18 years old. This year I finally got tired of riding on the back of Barry’s Goldwing so I took the MSF Riders course and got a Honda Shadow of my own. I work for the Florida Dept of Education as a Business Intelligence Analyst.
We both adore travel but our greatest travel passions center around cruise ships and motorcycles. Barry has cruised on more than 20 ships dating back to 1982. We are looking forward to the time when we can take that cruise around the world.
